Hardware Upgrades, Parts & Screen Replacement
An older computer often doesn’t need replacing, just the right part. We do SSD and memory upgrades, replace worn-out parts, and swap laptop screens and batteries, all at your home or business.
Same-day or next-day visits are often available, Monday through Saturday. Se habla español.
Common Hardware Jobs
These are the hardware jobs we take care of on site.
- SSD upgrades that make an older computer start and open programs much faster
- Memory (RAM) upgrades for computers that bog down with several things open
- Laptop batteries that won't hold a charge
- Cracked or flickering laptop screens
- Failed hard drives, power supplies, and other internal parts
- Fans and cooling for computers that run hot
How a Hardware Job Works
1. We confirm the part
Your tech checks the computer, finds the exact part it needs, and gives you the price before anything is ordered.
2. Screens and batteries take two visits
Laptop batteries and screens usually take two visits, one to confirm the right part and one to install it. Because of that second trip, the total can run a bit higher than a shop.
3. We install and test
The new part goes in, and we test the computer before we leave. If your files need to move to a new drive, we take care of that too.
Good to Know
Worth upgrading?
If the computer is otherwise in good shape, an SSD is often the most noticeable improvement you can make. If repairs would cost more than the computer is worth, we’ll say so.
What we don't repair
Our hardware work covers Windows laptops, desktops, all-in-ones, and mini PCs. Phones, tablets, game consoles, and printer hardware are outside what we repair.
What It Costs
Visits are $80 for the first hour, with a one-hour minimum, then $40 for each additional 30 minutes. Parts aren’t included and are quoted separately. Labor is billed at the standard rate, and parts are priced for you before anything is ordered.
No trip fee anywhere in Marion, Citrus & Sumter Counties, and anywhere in The Villages.
Payment is due at the end of the visit. We take cash and any credit or debit card. Returning clients can also pay by check, and your technician may accept Zelle, PayPal, Cash App, or Venmo when available.
Common Questions
Why does a screen or battery take two visits?
Laptop parts vary by model, even within the same brand. The first visit confirms the exact part, and the second installs it once it arrives.
Will an SSD really speed up my computer?
For most computers with an older spinning hard drive, yes. Starting up and opening programs are usually much quicker. Your tech will tell you if your computer already has one.
Do you move my files to the new drive?
Yes. When we replace or upgrade a drive, we move Windows and your files over, so the computer works like before, only faster.
Do you supply the parts?
Yes. We find the right part for your model and give you the price first. You approve it before anything is ordered.
